What I’m doing currently

Senior Front-end Developer focused on high-end, high velocity, high volume, device agnostic experimentation and personalization. Working primarily with GrowthBook, Cloudflare, Convert and Optimizely to build testing architectures that scale.

The interesting part of this work lies in the intersection of behavioral psychology and performance engineering—creating experiments that run smoothly across thousands of simultaneous variations while maintaining sub-100ms response times. It’s optimization at multiple levels: user experience, conversion metrics, and technical performance.

Technical Focus

Modern experimentation platforms (GrowthBook, Optimizely, Convert) paired with performance-first build tools (Vite.dev) and edge computing (Cloudflare). JavaScript remains the foundation, though I’ve deliberately stayed framework-agnostic to maintain compatibility across diverse testing scenarios.

WebStorm handles the development environment, while Anthropic Claude has become integrated into the optimization workflow—particularly useful for analyzing experiment data and generating variation hypotheses.

Current endeavours

Mintminds – Digital Optimizers (March 2016 – Present)
Senior JavaScript Developer, Enschede Area

Primarily conversion rate optimization development and analytics implementation. The work involves building custom testing frameworks that integrate with existing marketing stacks—often requiring creative solutions when standard implementations hit performance or compatibility walls.

recoveryArea (2003 – Present)
Owner / Digital Optimiser, Enschede

Web presence consultancy with a focus on conversion optimization and WordPress performance tuning. Twenty-two years of solving the same fundamental problem: making websites faster and more effective while maintaining accessibility standards.

Underlying philosophy

Working toward an empathic, secular, sustainable future through practical application of science and technology. The goal isn’t just optimization for its own sake, but creating digital experiences that actually serve people—accessible, efficient, and genuinely useful rather than merely impressive.

Previous work worth mentioning

Conrad Electronic International (2011-2016)
The transition from general web development to specialized conversion optimization happened here. Working with e-commerce at scale taught me that user experience improvements often require technical solutions that aren’t immediately obvious—performance bottlenecks masquerading as design problems, conversion barriers hidden in seemingly minor interaction delays.

University of Twente (2007-2009)
PHP and JavaScript development while providing Apple technical support. Interesting combination that reinforced the importance of understanding both the technical architecture and the human element—users don’t care how elegant your code is if the interface doesn’t make sense to them.

Earlier foundation (2000-2007)
Full-stack development across multiple platforms: Joomla, ASP, PHP, Visual Basic applications. The kind of broad technical exposure that becomes invaluable later when debugging complex integration issues or understanding why certain optimization approaches work while others fail.

Technical evolution

Started with foundational web technologies, evolved through jQuery-based optimization work, now focused on modern experimentation platforms and build tools. The constant has been performance and accessibility—twenty-plus years of making websites work better for the people actually using them.

Currently based in Enschede, Overijssel—Twente’s tech ecosystem provides the right balance of professional opportunity and quality of environment.
